What are the costs at Genesis Village?

What does the all-inclusive rate cover?

Our all-inclusive rate covers all utilities (except home phone), a continental breakfast and two Chef-prepared, home-cooked buffet meals which are provided daily. Enjoy the use of the indoor pool, whirlpool, locker room and fitness center. Residents will also enjoy the Fireside Café; a large 2,000 sq. ft. atrium; the library; scheduled groups, clubs, programs and activities; and 6 acres of outdoor space, which includes yard space, gardens and a wooded ravine. Residents will enjoy free access to on-site laundry rooms, a prayer room and chapel, along with basic computer assistance.

We want your new home to be as optimized for carefree retirement living as possible, which is why we offer month-to-month leases; you are not locked into a yearly commitment. If your lifestyle should happen to change, this option is very convenient. We also offer special rateal terms for “snowbirds” or others who are away for a complete month or more during the year.

 

Is there a meal plan?

No meal plan is necessary as three home-cooked meals are included in the monthly rate. We want residents to enjoy each meal, with a continental breakfast served daily and a lunch and dinner buffet in the dining room. Healthy meal options and a soup and salad bar are offered. Guests can join residents and purchase meal vouchers for all three meals. Additionally, special holiday menus are available as well as a private dining room for special gatherings.

Is there 24-hour staff available?

Genesis Village staff are on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays. The Front Desk is always staffed and they can assist you with any needs or questions you may have. Additionally, our maintenance team is available 24/7 for any apartment emergencies.

Will I be able to customize my apartment?

Non-structural changes to your residence, such as painting and window coverings, can be requested for a fee. The Genesis Village Management Team will coordinate the cost and approval of such additions, and the Genesis Village Maintenance Team will handle the work. If you decide to move or leave the community, a fee may be charged to return the residence to its original condition. Residents with a handicap requiring changes to their apartment, will also need approval prior to modifications being done.

What else will be located on-site for us to use?

Genesis Village provides a comprehensive selection of amenities designed to meet the diverse needs and interests of its residents. The Fitness Center is equipped with modern equipment, making it a great place for residents to stay in shape and maintain an active lifestyle. The Boardroom and Cafe are available for residents to host meetings and events with friends and family. The Fireside Lounge is a cozy and inviting space for residents to relax and socialize with others. Our library is stocked with a wide variety of books and reading materials to satisfy the reading interests of residents. The Beauty Salon offers a range of services to ensure that residents look and feel their best. The Life Enrichment Center provides residents with the opportunity to participate in various crafts and games. Lastly, the Atrium and Mezzanine are beautiful spaces for residents to socialize and connect with one another.

Are there activities to participate in at Genesis Village?

The Life Enrichment Department coordinates a wide variety of options to choose from—clubs, groups, activities and hobbies, including regularly-scheduled family and friends activities. Special outings are also coordinated for our Residents.

Additionally we offer game tables and a Wii system, the fitness center, indoor pool, whirlpool, a library and a multimedia center, as well as outdoor greenspaces which includes gardens, courtyards and a wooded ravine with wildlife.

Are there shopping and restaurants near Genesis Village?

We are conveniently located in Toledo, Ohio, near the corner of Heatherdowns Blvd. and S. Reynolds Rd. There are businesses and restaurants within walking distance, a short distance from Spring Meadows Shopping Center and the Shops at Fallen Timbers Mall in Maumee, Ohio.

Genesis Village offers free, scheduled trips for local shopping trips to the Westfield Mall area, Spring Meadows Shopping Center, Levis Commons and Fallen Timbers. We also offer regular trips to local banks, pharmacies, and grocery stores. All trips, activities, and outings are conveniently located on our weekly Life Enrichment calendar in resident’s mailboxes, posted around the building, and found on our website under our Resident Life – Life Enrichment Programs section.

If you wish to use public transportation, we are conveniently located on the TARTA bus line, and taxis are available to take you elsewhere.

Are pets allowed?

Yes! We love pets and would never want to separate a loved one from their owner. We do require that all pets go through the screening committee, which assures us they will get along well in our community and provides us current information about vaccinations. When you visit, ask to have a copy of our pet policy for more details. A small monthly fee per approved pet may apply.

Does Genesis Village have elevators?

Yes, the elevators in the Front Lobby access the tower apartments and second floor apartments at the front of the building. To access the second floor apartments in the East wing, we have an elevator lift.

How do I know if Independent Living is right for me?

Think about your current lifestyle and a typical day for you. If you go through the day without any additional help doing things like getting dressed, eating, taking care of your personal hygiene and medical needs, etc., then Genesis Village Independent Living is for you.

If you need some help with daily tasks like medication monitoring, housekeeping or laundry, then the answer is still yes! Our Enhanced Independent Living is an option for you: you will just need to enlist a spouse/relative/friend, or purchase services from a home health care agency to help you.

For those who need more daily help—help getting dressed, help eating, more than minor medical needs, or help getting around the building, then Genesis Village is probably not the right choice for you. Our Community Coordinator will be happy to speak with you about your specific needs, and if we are not an appropriate living arrangement, we can give you a list of other local options that may better suit you.

What types of transportation are included with my monthly rate?

Residents of Genesis Village can request transportation for medical/dental appointments or shopping/errands by completing a form at the front desk. Private transportation options such as cab companies or Call-A-Ride may be utilized as needed. Scheduled shopping/errand days are also available. This service is complimentary and more details can be provided upon request.

Are Guest Rooms available for my visiting family/friends? Can I spend the night to "get the feel" of living at Genesis Village?

Yes, we have furnished guest rooms available for a nominal fee, by reservation only. The guest rooms have everything needed to make the stay comfortable. If you would like to try Genesis Village out to see if it is the right place for you, contact our Community Liaison to find out more!

What if I am not ready to move to a senior community yet?

Genesis Village offers a Community Membership program for seniors who are interested in our community but not ready to move in immediately. This program includes four membership levels, ranging from bronze to diamond, and provides access to special events, meal vouchers, and other perks. It’s a great way to become familiar with our community before making a decision to move in.
