Some evenings at Genesis Village leave a lasting impression, and our presentation of “The Unexpected Power of Adversity” was one of them. Presented by Cindy and sponsored by the Women Veterans Initiative, the evening combined heartfelt storytelling, humor, and music to share a powerful journey of resilience and hope.
Our residents were engaged from start to finish, connecting with Cindy’s message about strength, perseverance, and finding light in life’s hardest moments. Bringing in guest speakers like Cindy reflects something we care about deeply: giving residents access to enriching, educational experiences that go beyond the walls of our community and spark real conversation.
Getting Active (and a Little Competitive) with Wii Fitness
Who says fitness can’t be fun? Over the past month, residents have been gathering in the Atrium for our brand-new Wii Fitness Age activity, testing their balance, coordination, and overall fitness through a series of lighthearted challenges — and discovering their own “Wii Fitness Age” along the way.
Programs like this are a favorite because they combine movement, laughter, and friendly competition all in one. Encouraging physical activity is a core part of healthy aging, and when it comes wrapped in a game everyone can enjoy together, it hardly feels like exercise at all. We’re already looking forward to our next session and hoping even more residents join in.
Finding Calm Through Color Art
Not every activity needs to get the heart rate up. Sometimes wellness looks like sitting down with friends, picking up a coloring page, and letting creativity take over. Our Color Art sessions have become a favorite way for residents to relax, unwind, and enjoy a peaceful moment in their day.
