This past week, residents and staff came together to celebrate each day with laughter, creativity, and plenty of camaraderie. Each themed day reminded us how much fun it is to live in a community where neighbors become friends, and friends feel like family.
Monday: USA Day
We kicked things off with USA Day, and the halls of Genesis Village were bursting with red, white, and blue. Residents and staff dressed in patriotic flair—from star-spangled T-shirts to flag-themed accessories. It was a spirited reminder of the pride we share as Americans and as members of a close-knit community.
Tuesday: Team Tuesday
Sports lovers had their day in the spotlight on Team Tuesday. Jerseys, hats, and team colors filled the building, sparking conversations about favorite games, legendary players, and hometown pride. Whether it was Ohio State, the Detroit Tigers, or the Toledo Mud Hens, there was no shortage of team spirit on display. The energy made it feel like game day all over again!
Wednesday: Workout Wednesday
By midweek, it was time to get moving with Workout Wednesday. Sneakers, sweatbands, and yoga pants were the dress code of the day, and many residents participated in balance classes, aquafit sessions, or walks with friends around the community. The fun theme also highlighted the importance of staying active and energized—something we value every day at Genesis Village.
Thursday: Throwback Thursday
Throwback Thursday brought a wave of nostalgia as residents and staff dressed in fashions from their favorite decades. From the sock hops of the ’50s to the groovy ’70s and neon ’80s, the creativity was endless. Outfits sparked laughter, stories, and even a few dance moves. It was a wonderful chance to relive the music, style, and memories of days gone by.
Friday: GV Spirit Day
We ended the week on a high note with GV Spirit Day, a celebration of all things Genesis Village. Staff and residents dressed in GV colors and apparel, proudly showcasing their love for our one-of-a-kind community. The day reflected what Spirit Week is all about—connection, pride, and the joy of belonging.
Fun fact: Spirit Days date back to the early 1900s, when schools began hosting themed days to build community and encourage participation. Today, the tradition has spread to neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities like ours, reminding us that celebrating together is what truly strengthens our bonds.
