One of our community’s favorite outings is heading out on The Sandpiper Cruise—and this week’s trip was no exception! Residents boarded the boat with big smiles and plenty of excitement. The deck quickly filled with laughter, conversation, and shared stories. Some residents reminisced about growing up in Toledo and how the city has gotten even better over the years, while others enjoyed soaking in the sunshine and cool breeze. Everyone leaned in together to take in the sights—Toledo’s murals, bridges, and sparkling skyline—making for a day full of friendship and memories.
It was a truly wonderful experience cruising on The Sandpiper, exploring the parks along the river, and admiring the murals, bridges, and other sights.☀️

Discovering the Maumee River
The Maumee River stretches 137 miles and is the largest river flowing into the Great Lakes. Its name comes from a Native American term meaning “mother of waters.” Today, the Maumee is at the heart of Toledo life, surrounded by parks, wildlife, and cultural attractions. Residents especially loved seeing the artistic Toledo Murals that bring color and creativity to our city’s riverbanks.
